Tulips
One of my favorite flowers, the tulip comes in so many colors and varieties. Keukenhof Botanical Garden is world-famous for its spectacular displays of tulips for a short few weeks in spring.

Special notes
Species tulip, Tulipa sprengeri, was first introduced to cultvation from Turkey in the nineteenth century. Sadly, it is now extinct in the wild, but still thrives in gardens, naturalising in part-shade on moisture-retentive soils.
