Cattail

This brown stick, very unlike any traditional flower, is still classified as a flower! The cattail is a reed that grows in water.

Saw it first in the US, and then again in the Netherlands. It has names in various Indian languages, so apparently it does grow in India.

For local native tribes around Lake Titicaca in Peru and BoliviaTypha were among the most important plants and every part of the plant had multiple uses. For example, they were used to construct rafts and other boats.
